  Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said on May 17 that no one should doubt the Fed's determination to contain the highest inflation in decades, including raising interest rates above neutral levels if necessary. bitfarmes:Is This The Bitcoin Breakout We’ve Been Waiting For?

 Bitcoin price   has broken out of an important downtrend line on linear scale. The downtrend line connects the peak at $68K, the top in March at $48K, and several recent rejections. On the lowest timeframes, Bitcoin has pushed outside of this diagonal sloping trend line. Before bulls begin to celebrate, BTCUSD is best charted on logarithmic scale.  Switching to log scale immediately makes the trend line seem obsolete. Moving the trend line across the same turning points in the market, produces a lot less steep of a downtrend line. The standard MACD tool also makes sense to use with a linear scale chart. But if you want more direct comparisons of momentum across larger time scales, you also need to use a logarithm version of the tool.  Using the regular MACD to compare past price action isn’t practical.   Bitcoin gained in Thursday evening trading in Asia and remained above US$20,000. Ether values fluctuated in the day but eventually rallied. Of the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, XRP led gains while stablecoins Tether and Binance USD declined on the day. Bitcoin gained 0.34% in the past 24 hours to trade at US$20,181 at 4:30 p.m. in Hong Kong, while Ether rose 1.43% to US$1,364, according to data from CoinMarketCap. XRP gained 3.4% to change hands at US$0.4935 amid a wave of developments for Ripple Labs, the firm whose payment network is powered by XRP. Ripple Labs received a boost from its inclusion in CB Insights’ list of most promising fintech companies in the world, but was dealt a blow in its ongoing case against the U.S. SEC when the SEC objected to the inclusion of two firms seeking to testify in Ripple’s favor in the lawsuit.
